Your future is in your hands. Work hard, never give up, and strive to build a strong America. This was the message from President Donald Trump as he addressed the graduating class at the University of Alabama on Thursday night.

Before Trump took the stage, University President Stuart Bell emphasized the importance of the event, stating it was a celebration of the students.

“This special ceremony offers a meaningful opportunity for you and me to reflect on the vital connection between academic inquiry, civic leadership, and public service,” Bell said.

Trump echoed themes of achievement and service, offering graduates ten pieces of advice from his own life, including “Think of yourself as a winner,” “Be an original,” and “Never, ever give up.” He encouraged the graduates, sharing that he began his first hotel development deal in his twenties, reminding them that they are never too young to succeed.

“Now is the time to work harder than you’ve ever worked before,” he urged. “Find your limits and then smash through everything.” Trump praised those who use their business skills to build America with tangible efforts, arguing they contribute more to the common good than those focused solely on financial speculation.

The event was a prelude to the official graduation ceremonies starting Friday, and graduating students had the option to attend.

During his speech, Trump also noted he was marking his 100th day in office, referencing a drop in arrests at the southern U.S. border as evidence that his immigration policies are effective. He criticized the judiciary, claiming judges are hindering his ability to fulfill campaign promises.

“Judges are interfering, supposedly based on due process,” he said. “But how can you give due process to people who came into our country illegally?”
