This week, Dr. Mehmet Oz was officially sworn in as the new Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) during a significant ceremony at the White House.
Dr. Oz wasted no time in addressing a harsh reality: America’s healthcare system is in crisis and it’s costing us dearly. “Seventy percent of our healthcare spending is driven by chronic disease,” he stated. His focus isn’t on pouring more money into the system or increasing prescriptions; it’s about tackling the root cause of our declining health.
He was direct in his message: “It is your patriotic duty—let me repeat that—the patriotic duty of all Americans to take care of themselves. This is crucial not only for military service but also because healthy individuals don’t drain healthcare resources.”
The benefits, he emphasized, are both personal and national: “The best way to reduce drug spending is to use fewer drugs—because you don’t need them if you’re healthy.”
Dr. Oz is rallying Americans to take control of their health—not just for their own sake, but for the future of the nation.
After outlining the problem, he shared his vision for a complete overhaul of Medicare and Medicaid, vowing to expose the dysfunction that has plagued the system for years. “Transparency is the key to everything,” he asserted.
“The president is demonstrating his genuine commitment to Medicare with these executive orders—like the one on transparency—that really benefit us,” Dr. Oz stated.
By pulling back the curtain, he believes we can finally address the issues that have been hidden for too long. “You shine a light in the dark corners where many problems in the healthcare system arise,” he said. As he bluntly noted, “The most expensive care is bad quality care.”
This initiative isn’t about adding more bureaucracy; it’s about building trust and delivering results.
Then, Dr. Oz shifted gears, declaring war on the fraudsters exploiting the system. “We want to crush fraud, waste, and abuse,” he asserted, making it clear that the gloves were off.
“I have a message for all the bad actors, from me, the secretary, and the president: we will stop those who steal from our most vulnerable citizens and from American taxpayers, who are trying to support these programs. We have several ways to make this happen.”
Before concluding, Dr. Oz shared his vision for the future. After highlighting the need for reform, he looked ahead with determination. He turned to President Trump, shook his hand, and made a promise: “Together, we’re going to improve care, enhance outcomes, and ensure America can be the healthiest country possible.”
He finished with a powerful statement: “We will ‘Make America Healthy Again.’”
